Block DNS queries in Windows 7 when disabling OpenVPN

Watch a video on YouTube:

When connecting to the OpenVPN server of the MultiVPN network, DNS resolvers of the MultiVPN service are assigned to you by default. At the same time, your provider's DNS servers become temporarily unavailable for use, which allows you to avoid DNS leaks in your system.

However, after the session with the OpenVPN server ends, the DNS servers of the provider become available again! If you disconnect from the VPN server by accident, your privacy may be compromised!

You can completely block all DNS queries on your system if they do not fit into the scope of an OpenVPN connection.

Open Network and Sharing Center

In the window that opens, go to "Change adapter settings"

Right-click the network adapter and select the "Properties" menu item

Disable Internet Protocol Version 6 (more). Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties

Switch to the "Use the following DNS server addresses" mode and enter the specified IP addresses of the DNS resolvers of the MultiVPN service in the appropriate fields. In this example, the preferred DNS server is located in Europe. 192.71.244.22 - Slovenia (NS1). An alternative DNS server is also located in Europe. 151.236.21.57 - France (NS3). Apply the settings by clicking "OK". These settings are suitable for those who most often use VPN servers in Europe.

Another example of configuring MultiVPN DNS servers. These settings are suitable for those who most often use VPN servers in America. 192.71.227.111 - Canada (NS2), 151.236.21.57 - France (NS3).

Available DNS servers of the MultiVPN service:

1. IP: 192.71.244.22 (ns1.multi-vpn.biz) - Slovenia.

2. IP: 192.71.227.111 (ns2.multi-vpn.biz) - Canada.

3. IP: 151.236.21.57 (ns3.multi-vpn.biz) - France.

We recommend that you perform the same steps with all network adapters in your system.

Now, all DNS queries in your system are processed by MultiVPN network servers. These servers will block DNS queries if they came not from the VPN service network.

To unblock DNS queries using this method, switch to the "Obtain DNS server address automatically" mode and apply these settings.
